HANDCRAFT GUITARS Master Crafted in Great Britain Custom Double Neck Guitar Compact design made as a 4-string Bass and 6-string, also as 4-string Bass and 12-string guitars; 25½ inch scale on top - 4-string 34 inch scale at the bottom. 3-way switch connects either neck alone or both together. It is possible to switch from the treble pick-up to the rhythm pick-up, also each pick-up can be switched from humbucker to single coil or outer phase thus when both pick-ups are selected a vast array of tones are available. Both mono and stereo effects are available from 2 output jack sockets (one a standard mono - the other accepts a stereo jack). Comprehensive tone and volume controls are also fitted. The guitar is perfectly balanced and finished in gloss polyester; available in sunburst, natural, white, cherry red and black.

CONSTRUCTION The neck is precision machined and hand finished from seasoned Canadian hard rock maple. The fingerboard is burnished and fretted by hand with generous camber nickel silver T-section fret wire. Sealed with durable polyurethane. The Shergold counter adjustable truss rod maintains perfect level of action with any gauge of string. The hand cut and fitted ivory fingerboard nut corrects string height at the first fret. BODY Selected kiln dried hardwood chosen for stability and grain. Dimensioned and shaped to give maximum rigidity without excessive weight. Polyester finish. ELECTRONICS The bottom selector switch controls the fingerboard P/U in forward position, both P/U's in centre and bridge P/U in back position. The middle switch selects single coil superflux type in forwards, out of phase in centre, and normal humbucker in back position for bridge P/U. Combinations of the second and third switches with the first P/U selector offer a greater amount of tone changes without natural harmonic interference. PICK UPS High output humbuckers with individual pole adjustment. Special covers eliminate magnetic eddies to give maximum harmonic range. BRIDGE AND TAILPIECE Individual string height adjustment from six bridge saddles. Harmonic correction by six easily accessible screws located at the front of the bridge. All metal parts heavily chrome plated. King-sized scratch plate. All Shergold models are available in five finishes: Sunburst, natural, white, cherry red and black. Custom Masquerader 12 String
NECK Selected Canadian hard rock maple, precision fretted by hand with heavy gauge fret wire. Burnished and sealed with durable polyurethane. Shergold counter adjustable truss rod to maintain perfect level action with any gauge of string. Ivory nut and bound edges of finger-board which lip over the fret ends. Schaller mininylon machine heads. BODY Selected kiln dried hardwood chosen for stability and grain - finished in translucent polyester to enhance the natural beauty of the wood. Carefully shaped for balance to suit most players. Attractive control panel and scratch plate. ELECTRONICS PICKUPS High output humbuckers with individual pole adjustment to control the response from every string. Special covers eliminate magnetic eddies to give maximum harmonic range. CONTROLS Volume and tone and 3 selector switches. The Selector switch nearest the bridge selects the finger-board pickup in the forward position, both pickups in the centre, and bridge pickup in the back position. The second switch selects single coil superflux type in the forward position, out of phase in the centre, and normal humbucker in the back position on the bridge pickup only. The third switch operates the same as the second, but on the finger-board pickup only. The combination of the second and third switches in conjunction with the first pickup selector enable a greater number of tone changes without interfering with the natural harmonics. The overall effect is to select your own pickup sound as you would in a custom guitar. BRIDGE AND TAILPIECE Individual string height can be adjusted from the six saddles. Harmonics can be corrected by six long screws accessible from the from of the bridge. All metal parts chromium-plated. Quick release bridge cover in moulded plastic. Marathon Bass
The Shergold set-up is aggressively British. The Company was established by two craftsmen, experts in their respective fields who were to an extent frustrated by building a wide variety of guitars under trade names. They decided, in popular jargon, to do their own thing...to make instruments which would embody the results of their comprehensive experience...to prove that "Britain can make it" and at a price which will benefit the consumer. This instrument can truly be described as the all-purpose bass guitar. Knowing from experience that some players want a dominating "beat" sound whilst others prefer a more restrained string bass effect, the working directors produced an instrument to suit all tastes. The Marathon offers a choice of mono or stereo sound. CONSTRUCTION Shergold neck with 20 hand fitted generous camber nickel silver frets and special 34 in. scale for greater resonance.
